I like looking at beautiful gardens, and I would love to have one. The problem is that gardening is not my thing. I get a headache from being under the sun for a long time. Also, I am scared of caterpillars and worms. I know, it's ridiculous, but I am who I am. So, when my mom came to visit me, I asked her to help me with our garden.

I have four garden plots around my house (our house's old owner build them ... yay !) Two of them still need more plants. Anyway, my mom and I went to nurseries and bought a lot of perennials. We spent $200!!! I know, that's a lot of money. But, actually, that's not much - a lot of people spend thousands of dollars to make their garden beautiful. I didn't know that gardening was a very expensive hobby in US. So, we planted the plants and took care of them. But after my mom went back to Indonesia, most of my plants died. I gave up after that. I didn't want to get more plants ... they are expensive and not guaranteed to grow :(

Mbak Riri, my friend, knew that I wasn't interested in gardening, so she tried to convinced me that there's another way to make gardening more fun. First: get plants in the fall, when they are on sale. Second: when you do watering, pruning, weeding, adding soil or feeding: do it early in the morning or late afternoon, when the sun isn't too strong. Angus, my husband, adds: get plants that don't need a lot of water, are easy to take care of and of course are perennials. I add too: how about a husband help?!

"Hello my garden ... here comes mama!"
